Why It Matters

Seasonal Catering is a Certified Green Caterer® by the Green Restaurant Association.

The Green Restaurant Association is a nationally-recognized, non-profit organization that has set industry standards for restaurants and caterers to become more environmentally responsible.

We believe in being a sustainable company and setting an example minimizing our impact on the environment as much as possible.

We are continually sourcing from local CT farms and local businesses for produce, cheeses, meats, wines, and even Beer!  By purchasing locally you get the freshest quality food and we in turn are reducing our carbon footprint and also contribute to the local economy.  View some of the farms we source from.

How it's done

Our company was evaluated on the following environmental categories:

  • Water efficiency

  • Waste reduction

  • Recycling

  • Sustainable building materials

  • Sustainable food

  • Energy

  • Disposable products

  • Chemical and pollution reduction

Within each category there are numerous criteria in which we have earned points towards our certification. A few of these items include:

  • Energy Star rated appliances

  • Recycling kitchen oils and food by-product

  • Environmentally-friendly cleaning products

  • Low flow water valves on sinks

  • Biodegradable, compostable disposable products

  • Environmentally conscious food purchasing

 

Our Contribution

 

  • Our company has Never purchased any Styrofoam products and Never will.

  • We utilize paper straws for our guests beverage needs.

  • We utilize high efficiency Induction Burners to cook food instead of gas or electric consuming less energy.

  • We source seasonal produce from local CT farms whenever possible.

  • We follow the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Guide for recommendations on which fish and shellfish to include on our menus.

  • We serve Fair-Trade and Organic Coffee sourced from local coffee roasters.

  • We proudly offer local beer & wine options for our Bar Services.

  • We use compostable and recyclable products for our disposable event needs.

  • We even set up a composting program with a local farm we source our produce from to turn our scraps into nutrient rich soil used to fertilize the next crop we will use.

The Future
